EWG checks the information you provide about your site, operating pattern, refrigeration concern, available evidence, and decision control. The aim is to sort whether there is a practical basis for a useful next step.

For food retail and refrigeration-heavy sites, this may include:

• after-hours refrigeration load that may be adding pressure outside trading hours
• recurring faults, maintenance pressure, or reliability concerns
• damaged doors, worn seals, visible cabinet issues, or plant-area concerns
• temperature confidence, stock-risk pressure, or uncertainty about what is happening
• confusion about a repair, replacement, supplier quote, or upgrade option
• lease, landlord, or ownership uncertainty where responsibility is not clear

EWG currently works with suitable businesses in the Wellington Region.

Possible next routes

After reviewing the information, EWG may suggest one of several bounded routes:

• No action for now — the issue may not look ready, material, or suitable for EWG review at this stage.
• Simple checklist or online route — the concern may be worth a light review of available information before any manual review.
• Paid first-step check or remote review — the issue may suit a scoped review of likely refrigeration pressure areas, avoidable loss, decision risk, or next-step readiness.
• Supplier or specialist readiness route — the next step may be clearer questions, better evidence, or quote clarity before talking further with a refrigeration supplier, technician, verifier, electrician, engineer, landlord, or other specialist.
• Emergency or compliance issue — urgent repair, food safety, compliance, refrigeration, electrical, gas, HVAC, engineering, or certification matters should go directly to the appropriate qualified provider.

What EWG may ask for

These items can make the review clearer, but they are not all mandatory at first contact. EWG may ask for:

• a recent bill screenshot or a broad power or energy spend band
• photos of refrigeration cabinets, doors, seals, plant area, controls, or visible issues, using only what is safe and already visible
• a supplier quote, maintenance note, or short record of recurring faults
• operating days and hours, including cleaning, closing, weekend, or seasonal patterns
• a short description of what is worrying the owner or manager
• a temperature concern or stock-risk note, where relevant
• a lease or ownership note, where landlord or tenant responsibility is unclear
• the preferred communication path

What this check does not replace

EWG keeps this first step evaluation bounded and practical. This check does not replace emergency refrigeration repairs, a formal energy audit, licensed trade work, engineering or refrigeration design, installation work, food safety or compliance certification, legal or financial advice, supplier pricing, or a guaranteed savings report.

If another provider may be needed

If the next step needs a refrigeration supplier, trade contractor, auditor, food safety verifier, landlord, engineer, electrician, or other qualified specialist, EWG can clarify the question, evidence, and preparation needed before you decide what to do.
